The Winona State University Athenaeum Series will host “A Researcher’s Travel to Havana, Cuba” at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, on the second floor of the Darrell W. Krueger Library.
Professor Suzanne Draayer from WSU’s Music Department will discuss her research of the Cuban art song composers and their music along with the difficulties and challenges of her trip to Havana. Draayer returned with several scores and books on Cuban art music, which were donated to Krueger Library. An article will appear in Journal of Singing.
All WSU Athenaeum Series events are free and open to the public.
The Athenaeum hosts events that explore and enhance the intellectual life of the University and the region through lectures, readings, performances, discussions and other events. By bringing together scholars, performers, students and community members for intellectual discussion and the sharing of cultural experiences, the Athenaeum reflects the importance the University places on the humanities, the arts and the sciences.
